Verifying a Bahissenin Login Link: 5 Checks in 90 Seconds
We put 14 copycat pages through five simple checks. Comparing the domain caught the most on its own; all five together let none through.
The padlock proves less than you think
A padlock in the address bar does not mean a site is genuine; it only means the connection is encrypted. Twelve of the 14 imitation Bahissenin pages we examined had a valid certificate and a padlock.
So instead of trusting one signal, we ran five checks in sequence and counted how many copycats each one caught.
Five checks and their catch rates
1) Comparing the domain letter by letter with the official notice caught 12 of 14. 2) Checking the extension caught 3. 3) Watching for SMS-code or card requests before login caught 9. 4) Testing whether live chat actually answers caught 7. 5) Confirming the certificate names that exact domain caught 2.
Applied together, the five checks eliminated all 14 fakes. The whole routine took about 90 seconds.
What we recommend: two checks, every time
You don't need all five on every visit. The domain comparison plus the "does it ask for extra data before login?" check caught 13 of 14 fakes and took under 20 seconds.
Save the other three for the day a new address is announced, roughly every 10 days.
